Maud Daly, five years old. Grace Daly, three years old. Each picks about one pot of shrimp a day for the Peerless Oyster Co. The youngest said to be the fastest worker. Location: Bay St. Louis, Mississippi

Oldest girl, Minnie Carpenter, House 53 Loray Mill, Gastonia, N.C. Spinner. Makes fifty cents a day of 10 hours. Works four sides. Younger girl works irregularly. Location: Gastonia, North Carolina

The smallest boy is a band boy, next is a doffer. The smallest girl is a spinner. Work in Cowpers' [i.e., Cowpen's?] Manufacturing Co., S.C. (See Label 2970). Location: [Cowpens], South Carolina.

Some of the young girls who roll cigarettes in the Danville (Virginia) Cigarette Factory. I could not induce the very smallest ones to get into the photos. See other photos taken at noon and in the morning. One boy said, "Lots are working under fourteen. I went in under twelve." Location: Danville, Virginia.
