Larry Le Kashman, of New York City, with the short-wave radio sending and receiving set loaned to the Boy Scouts for their National Jamboree in Washington. A special license was issued by Federal Communications Commissions for the set, which will carry no commercial programs but will be used to carry news of the Jamboree to Scouts thoughout the world who were unable to make the trip to Washington. 62637

Collection of photographic negatives includes glass and film negatives taken by Harris & Ewing, Inc., which provide excellent coverage of Washington people, events, and architecture, during the period 1905-1945. Harris & Ewing, Inc., gave its collection of negatives to the Library in 1955. The Library retained about 50,000 news photographs and 20,000 studio portraits of notable people. Approximately 28,000 negatives have been processed and are available online. (About 42,000 negatives still need to be indexed.)

General Baden-Powell and a detachment of his Boy Scouts furnish an afternoon's entertainment for the wounded Amer. soldiers at the Amer. hospital at Tottenham, near London. The hero of the afternoon's entertainment was a Scotch soldier, a resident of Tottenham, who has just been awarded the Victoria Cross for valor on the Western Front. Col. John B. Rep. Hamilton Fish on neutrality. Washington, D.C., Oct. 30. After the House Rules Committee Session, Rep. Hamilton Fish was interviewed by the press. He told reporters that he had no disposition to filibuster and hoped that congress would disposed of the matter by Friday night, but he said opponents wanted some rule permitting the House to decide policy on three questions: the arms embargo, loans under the cash and carry provision, and the presidential power to determine combat areas, which Fish said, was equivalent to giving him authority to name an aggressor
