Saddlehorn Area, 5 miles inside West entrance, Fruita, Mesa County, CO
Summary
Significance: The Saddlehorn area has local significance architecturally and historically. The architecture within the area displays elements of the National Park Service Rustic building traditions. In addition, the area documents the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and Public Works Administration (PWA) projects conducted at the monument between 1930 and 1942. The CCC construction work at the Monument was one of the most extensive projects undertaken by the Corps in western Colorado.
