Summary
Significance: The S.C. Route 174 Bridge is identified as Charleston 2 in the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation's (SCDHPT) Metal Truss Highway Bridge Inventory. Its significance is derived from being one of the earliest swing spans in the state, and as such one of the oldest surviving spans. The bridge displays, with great clarity, the distinctive features of swinging bridge design and function. It was determined eligible for the National Register January 28, 1983.
