Back to the Stone Age. Along the banks of this little stream in Montenegro are many caves and in the caves live hundreds of people, leading practically the same existence that human beings led thousands of years ago. In rooms cut out of solid rock, hardly as large as an ordinary bedroom, fifteen to thirty five people live like rats. The American Red Cross found them without clothes, food or any other civilized comforts. In the right foreground can be seen Lieut. Col. Frederick Keppel, director of Red Cross Foreign Relief, discussing the plight of these people with Miss Olivia E. Hamilton, a Red Cross nurse of Philadelphia, stationed in Montenegro
