Appearing before the Senate Unemployment and Relief Committee today, U.S. Surgeon General Thomas Parran declared that involuntary unemployment "breeds pathological political philosophies, subversive to our present democratic institutions". Speaking as a doctor and not as an economist, Dr. Parran urged that employment be provided for all who are willing and able to work.
