Wellenkotter Ranch, Main House, 112th Avenue & Watkins Road, Denver, Denver County, CO
Summary
Significance: The Wellenkotter Ranch is representative of the historical development of agriculture in west-central Adams County during the late nineteenth century. The ranch, covering about 1,100 acres at its largest, typified the size of ranches during the late nineteenth century in much of the Denver International Airport area and the greater area between the South Platte River and Box Elder Creek. Also, the extended family nature of the operation during the late nineteenth century was one of the common patterns of ranch and farm operation on the Colorado plains during that same period.
