Summary
Significance: The Yakima National Guard Armory is historically significant as the first permanent home of the Washington National Guard in Yakima. The Yakima Armory was also a great bon to the cultural, social and sporting life of the community. The armory's huge open drill floor was the scene of many celebrations, exhibitions, shows, and athletic events over the years. It figured so prominently in community affairs that one historian wrote "Many banquets and events were held there and everyone who grew up in Yakima attended at least one function there."
