Levinsky of the Bureau is using an instrument which tests the resitance of a film by measuring the width of a scratch produced by a diamond point under a given load. Another method is to put a piece of film in a bottle of sand, revolve the bottle a certain number of times, then measure the haxiness developed. Many commercial treatments designed to increase the hardness of the emulsion have been investigated, 7/8/38
