Hinckley House, De Jean Street, Washington, St. Landry Parish, LA
Summary
Significance: This house was built shortly after 1811 by Asa Norton, a tanner and businessman. The house is typical of country houses built along the bayous at the time. It is constructed of native cypress and other hard woods with good craftsmanship. It has remained in the Norton-Gardener-Hinckley family since it was built.
