The plants served by these laboratories make ammonia for conversion into ammonium nitrate for use in the manufacture of high explosive shells, elemental phosphorus for incendiary bombs and shells, phosphoric acid and highly concentrated phosphatic fertilizers

The coal is put in the rettort and heated to a temperature of 1832 degrees. From the smoke and gas, Tar, Ammonium Sulphite, sulphur, light oils and gas are derived and from the tar, medicines, aromatic oils, perfumes, dyes, and acids are derived. From the light oils, motor fuel is obtained. In short: this machine wastes nothing at all
