Dams under construction. Cherokee Dam is the latest headwaters dam to be completed. It is a semioutdoors type structure, the covers over the three initial generating units show in the picture behind the railing in front. The office wing of the control building is on the left. The shot is taken between the legs of the gantry crane which is used for installation and removal for repairs of turbines and generators. The cage-like steel contraptions mounted on the spillway piers are the anchorages for the floodgate hinges
