Before Monopoly Committee. Washington, D.C., Feb. 16. Charles D. Hilles, Director of the New York Life Insurance Company, and also Resident Agent for the Employer Liability Assurance Corp., today explained to the Monopoly Committee investigating insurance setups the relations between the two companies. When questioned Hilles admitted that business had increased materially for the Assurance Corp., since he became a member of the New York Life board. He told the committee that nearly 5000 pieces of New York Life property are covered by the assurance company, 2-16-39

New Chairman of Interstate Commerce Commission. Washington, D.C., Dec. 29. Carroll Miller assumed the chairmanship of the Interstate Commerce Commission today. He succeeds Charles D. Mahaffie as presiding officer. The order of succession which moves Miller into the chairmanship was adopted Janurary 13, 1911. Mr Miller was appointed a member of the commission by President Roosevelt in 1933. The new chairman was born in Richmond, Virginia, but now makes his home in Pennsylvania

Roeberg, real estate man and principal of Bantam School. Insulation of the walls and other work on the interior was not yet completed when this picture was taken. Watcher is Charles D. Kilbourne, a local dairy farmer and construction man. The post is manned twenty-four hours daily, and many of the watchers are workers in Bantam war industries
