These workers at Vultee's Nashville plant are making flap installations on a row of outer wings which will subsequently be installed on Vultee "Vengeance" dive bombers. The "Vengeance" (A-31) was originally designed for the French. It was later adopted by the RAF (Royal Air Force) and still later by the U.S. Army Air Forces. It is a single-engine, low-wing plane, carrying a crew of two men and having six machine guns of varying calibers

This huge tire stands nine and a half feet high, with tube and flap, weighs 3,646 pounds and carries 55,000 pounds. The giant mold in which it is vulcanized weighs 300,000 pounds and stands two and a half stories high when the cover is open. The top section of the mold which is raised and lowered to admit the tire, weighs sixteen tons. Large bullet- sealing gasoline and oil tanks are also being cured in this mold
