Latest addition to D.C. War Housing Program. To relieve the shortage of housing for Negro women war workers in Washington, the Federal Works Agency (FWA) is completing construction of Wake and Midway Halls, which will accommodate 1,000 women. A Hepburn is new CIO aide. Washington, D.C., Jan. 8. Marian Hepburn, 19-year-old sister of Katherine the stage and movie star, has just taken a job with the United Federal Workers of America, a union of government employees affiliated with the CIO. Miss Hepburn is now in her third year at Bennington College, Vermont, taking up the study of labor, government and sociology which might explain why she is working for FWA. She is to resume her studies on February 20 at which time she will write on what she has learned from practical experience, 1/8/38
