Helen said she could tie the most (5,000 a day at 30 cents). Mary does some but can do only 1000 a day. They work nights a good deal. The night before Helen and James worked until 11:00 P.M. The sanitary conditions in most of these homes are pretty good, but some times filthy rooms are found and often tuberculosis with the work still going on. The people are supposed to do the work only under certain restrictions, but when the inspector and the one who delivers the goods are not around, they do as they please.
