Senate Committee questions Inspector General of Army. Washington, D.C., Jan. 18. Maj. General Walter Reed, Inspector General of the Army, takes the oath before testifying before the Senate Public Lands Committee. Questioned by the committee on the alleged defalcations totaling $87,000 of reno[...] Stitley, former Chief Voucher Clerk of the CCC, Reed declared the Army Chief Finance Office acted in good faith when the alleged fraudulent vouchers were honored. He added the finance officer was instructed to honor any and all vouchers presented by persons designated in communications between the Army and other government departments concerning handling of finances for the CCC, 1/18/38
