Self-fitting is easy for Cynthia because she applies new simplified methods. Her dress is already permanently stiched at the waistline; corrections are being made at the shoulder seam. Modern technique avoids confusing pieces; dress quickly emerges in final form. Good sewing schools advocate minimum of basting. Prefer tailors' chalk to pins so fitting isn't "lost" in removing garment

One way to increase tire life--and to do your part in the saving of rubber for the forces of fighting to defend your right to drive in freedom over the roads of this democracy is to keep the pressure right. German warning to occupied France. Here, in the Nazis' own black and white, is visual testimony to the fact that the battle of France continues. This grim poster came to the Office of War Information (OWI) from Paris by a devious route, a route which for obvious reasons cannot be given but which, by its very existence, proves that the Gestapo isn't all-powerful. Bordered in red, surmounted by eagle and swastika, the poster is a notice that a member of the German army was killed in Paris, August 21, 1941, and that, as a consequence, every Frenchman under arrest, from August 23 on, will be considered a hostage. "In the case of another attack," the notice--in French and German--states, "hostages in a number corresponding to the seriousness of the criminal act committed will be shot." Here is the full text of the warning which the angry Nazis--probably frightened, too - plastered on the walls of occupied France

He is giving Congress a week from Monday to perfect a plan. If Congress falls down, Cowboy Gassaway is going to work on a multi-ramified program which in general specifies the return of the horse and fewer automobiles. In one hour his week on a D.C. street is counted 1800 cars. "That's whats wrong!" he suggests. People will buy a gallon of gas when they have no "bread" or likker in the house."
