Night Work! Group of boys, all working in Massey Hosiery Mills, Columbus, Ga. Most of them had been working all day and had an hour for supper and were going back into the mill (6:00 P.M.) to work until 8 P.M. as they have done several nights this week and for some time past. I found 4 ten year olds and several of 11 and 12 working in the evenin[g] after supper and they said it was a regular thing. Ferrell [i.e., Terrell?] Butler, 10 yrs old, 1114 21st St., been working off and on 1 yr. Marvin Williams, 11 yrs. old been working 1 yr. part of the time at night. Lawrence Webb, 12 yrs. Old. Jack Wright, 15[?] yrs. working [3] yrs., co]uldn't write his ow[n] name. Are working nights now, as well as the following who were not in these photos. Gordon Stone, 10 yrs. old. War production drive. The labor-management committee in the Minneapolis plant of the Northern Pump Company had trouble with absenteeism, especially Saturday nights and Sundays. To overcome this, door prizes were distributed among the men who worked on those shifts. This photograph shows the announcements of $1,250 in weekly prize money. Since this picture was taken, the plant has been placed on a full seven-day schedule and prizes are no longer necessary to keep all shifts operating

The heating unit is in the kitchen of Fred Heath's four-room apartment in the new federally-financed homes for eighty families just a few minutes from the Warren McArthur factory in Bantam. The well-insulated coal fire puts steam in the radiators and provides the heat for cooking. The tenants are well-pleased although on several nights when the temperature dropped to ten degrees below zero they were forced to replenish the fuel every two or three hours. That cigarette Fred Heath holds is not tailor-made, by the way--he likes to roll his own

Isaac Boyett, "I'm de whole show." The twelve year old proprietor, manager and messenger of the Club Messenger Service, 402 Austin Street, Waco Tex. The photo shows him in the heart of the Red Light District where he was delivering messages as he does several times a day. Said he knows the houses and some of the inmates.
