Worshipping place of Imperial Russia. Before Russia's collapse, during the early part of the war, the former Czar Nicholas frequently attended this church while sojourning with his troops at Wilno, the old capitol of Lithuania, now in the hands of the Poles. Always in those days his imperial name was mentioned in the prayers. It was announced in this same church one Sunday morning early in the beginning of the present terrible winter that the American Red Cross had come to Wilno to help in the relief of the misery and suffering that war had brought to tens of thousands of people. A long moment of deep silence held the shivering people, broken finally by sobbing and cries. Then led by the priest they burst into a song of thanksgiving. It ws their national hymn, "God Watches over Poland"
