A poster comes to life."This reminds me of home," said Sergeant Vineyard as he downed a forkful of Mrs. Woolslayer's devil's food cake. When Mrs. Woolslayer said "I'd like you to try a piece of my cake," the welder and the Army Sergeant forgot all about the war and fighting and production, and embarked on a Sunday afternoon gossip session the like of which you'll find in Iowa, Kentucky, Oregon or Vermont. As American as baseball, the Sunday afternoon visit is a friendly and democratic means of relaxation, common to soldier, worker, bank president and schoolchild alike. Proudly sitting next to Sergeant Vineyard is Georgia Ann Woolslayer, eight. Allegheny-Steel, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

A poster comes to life. "I've been waitin' for this moment," said George Woolslayer, as he shook hands with his poster-model colleagues, Sergeant Vineyard and Chief Evans, "and I'm mighty proud." Although Woolslayer was somewhat more voluble than his service friends, all of the men admitted to being thrilled at the meeting. None had met before. It was the soldier's and sailor's first visit to a steel mill and they watched the operation with interest and laid down a continuous barrage of questions.
