In the Piping Days of Old. This beautiful garden, a part of the Roumanian Royal Summer Palace at Sinai, was the scene of gorgeous festivals. But today it witnesses only processions of misery and want. For near it there is an American Red Cross relief station where the Roumanian peasants, made destitute by the war, come for rations of food, clothes and medical attention. Superstitious natives say its roses will never bloom again as the result of the scenes that have been enacted about it during the past year. In the foreground of the photo is Miss Constanza Caplescu, a Roumanian-American nurse who is serving with the Red Cross
