Director of the Mint, Nellie Tayloe Ross, finds rest and relaxation from her arduous Treasury duties on her newly acquired 200 acre farm here. She is pictured among her 60,000 tobacco plants which are soon to be harvested. The house on the farm is over 100 years old, 7/29/38

Director of Mint now Maryland farmer. Solomons Island, Md., July 29. It's a far cry from the plains of Wyoming to Maryland farm, but Director of Mint Nellie Tayloe Ross bridged the gap when she acquired 200 acres here including 100 year old house. While the principal crop is tobacco, Mrs. Ross is equally proud of the branch tomatoes raised on the property
