25 Middle Street (House), 25 Middle Street, Valley, Chambers County, AL
Summary
Significance: This wooden frame textile mill workers' home was probably built ca. 1883 during an expansion phase at Riverdale Mill. It appears to have been a duplex providing two one-room spaces for unmarried mill workers. Successive additions enlarged this house to accommodate families, and it was later converted to a single-family home with an indoor bathroom. Riverdale Mill opened in 1866 along the Chattahoochee River as a water-powered facility under the name of the Alabama-Georgia Manufacturing Co. In 1998 Riverview village comprised over 130 structures.
