Summary
Significance: Owned throughout their existence by Federal Government and designed by one of the four architects of Main Auditors Complex (original Bureau of Printing and Engraving), Annex 1 and 1-A were built for support storage needs of the Bureau. The structures housed carriages, wagons, horses used to transport currency and, by 1920, a laundry used to clean rag goods required for high-quality currency printing. By 1924, Annex 1/1-A house garage parking and repair area for cards and trucks. Since 1954, buildings have been used by GSA as garage and for file cabinet storage.
