Buffalo Guard Station, Residence, U.S. Highway 20/191 at Buffalo River, Island Park, Fremont County, ID

description

Summary

Significance: Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps using a standard Forest Service Region Four plan (R4-1), but with log siding rather than a specified siding type. It is thus associated with the Federal Depression recovery effort, representative of a method of construction, but also locally unique because of the siding. The building originally served as a summer residence for the Ranger of the Buffalo Ranger District.

Survey number: HABS ID-65-D
