S.E.C. investigates Whitney Co. collapse. Washington, D.C., April 12. H.G. Wellington, partner in the firm of Wellington and Co. told the SEC today that his firm made a unsecured loan on a thirty day note to Richard Whitney and Co. in Sept. 1933, and that the money was not paid for four years.
