Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Pump House, California Avenue, east side between Dry Dock 1 & Dry Dock 2, near Ninth Street, Vallejo, Solano County, CA
Summary
Significance: Building 110 is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District. Built in 1903, this small octagonal pumphouse served both Dry Dock 1, which was completed in 1891 and Dry Dock 2, construction for which began the same year that Building 110 was completed. This building was obviously important functionally, helping to water and dewater the two most important structures in the shipyard. It is also an interesting example of the high quality of brick masonry construction in the shipyard at Mare Island, which persisted well into the 20th century.
