Michael Richards interview conducted by Clark Douglas Halker, 2011-08-13

description

Summary

Richards reviews his own background and his entrance into the trade, iron working in California, working as an organizer in Oklahoma, teaching iron workers, his dad, and music.

This interview was conducted at the 2011 National Iron Workers Convention at Chicago's Sheraton Hotel. Richards and I were literally inside the history exhibit-display in the Exhibit Hall. The hall is very noisy and the interview area very boomy.

Recorded at the 2011 Iron Workers Union National Convention in Chicago's Sheraton Hotel's Exhibit Hall, Chicago, Illinois, August 13, 2011.

Cultural Traditions of Ironworkers in America's Upper Midwest : Archie Green Fellows Project, 2011-2012 (AFC 2011/062: 00260) Archive of Folk Culture, American Folklife Center, Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.
