Map of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the New England states, with state boundaries highlighted with color and sailing ships in the ocean. Said to have been drawn by Whistler when he was fifteen years old.

On back in ink, in unknown hand: To a very dear friend with much love, Annie R (?) Chilson, Mar. 28, 1932. This was given to my aunt when she was a child 12 yrs old. She gave it to me when I was 18. The artist drew it in school when he was 10 [i.e., 15] yrs old, in Pamfret, Ct. My aunt was then Anna Bowers, after she was Mrs, Joe Cavarly.

On back: black stamp of L.C. Fine Arts Division (Lugt 926f).
