description

Summary

Significance: The Well 5 Booster Stations have been determined eligible to the National Register of Historic Places because of their association with historical events of exceptional importance. These poured-concrete structures were constructed to provide water for general infrastructure to support the nuclear weapons testing program (including supplying water for the support town, Mercury, construction activities, etc.). Today, they provide a link between the U.S. nuclear weapons testing programs and the infrastructural support required by the establishment of an atomic weapons test site.
