Summary
Significance: The Shaw Cove's Bridge is a forged steel rim-bearing swing bridge. It is a single-span, pin-connected Pratt through truss with thin diagonal eye-bars serving as tension members. It is significant as part of the transportation link in the shoreline route of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, and as an industrial engineering solution to the need to provide dependable rail service while accommodating river navigation.
