Summary
Significance: Building 2840 is similar in construction and appearance to Buildings 2796, 2797, 2841, 2892, and 2893. As such, it was a building type readily adaptable to varied functions on Air Force bases. Moreover, the importance of petroleum to SAC mission further enhanced the function of this building. Accordingly, because of its flexible building design, and the importance of the operations conducted in it, Building 2840 was vital to the SAC Cold War mission.
