The much coveted Collier Trophy which is awarded annually for the most outstanding achievement in aviation was presented to Charles L. Lawrence of New York by President Coolidge at the White House today. Mr. Lawrence is the builder and designer of the famous whirlwind motors and was awarded the Trophy for 1927 for his development of them. The Gordon Bennett International Balloon Trophy, property of the National Aeronautic Association by virtue of three victories by American Balloonists, was today presented to Assistant Secretary of War for Aviation F.
