University Avenue Bridge, Spanning Schuylkill River at University Avenue (State Route 3003), Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA

Significance: The bridge is significant for its association with noted Philadelphia architect Paul Phillipe Cret, who designed the bridge in collaboration with city engineers. Its exterior treatment reflects Cret's stripped-down classicism, in accordance with his Beaux-Arts training and the prevailing City Beautiful movement for enlightened civic architecture. The structure is also significant as one of a declining number of moveable bridges in Philadelphia.
