Dr. John Patterson House, Northeast Ariana Estates, Auburndale, Polk County, FL
Summary
Significance: The Patterson House, built by Doctor John Patterson, Confederate Army surgeon, in 1885, is a noteworthy example of Florida vernacular architecture. The house was designed to permit thorough natural ventilation, open on both ends and one side. The house remained in use until the 1960's when it was moved to a site near the original site and was razed in the summer of 1971.
