Summary
Significance: The Calvary Baptist Church was formed in 1921 upon the merging of the Second Baptist Church with the First Free Baptist Church. Soon thereafter, this structure was built upon the site of the old Free Baptist Church (1857). The significance of the church is derived from its contribution as one of the numerous religious and secular public buildings which surround the Lawrence Common, making it the focus of institutional life in the city.
