Horace G. Long House, Ranchos de Taos, Taos County, NM
Summary
Significance: Exact documentation on this house is lacking. Local tradition ascribes it as the house of Horace George Long who came to Taos from Kentucky about 1839. If this is so, the house was in part, at least, older than Long's period of residence, because the tree ring dates of logs from Room No. 7 indicate a cutting date of 1816. Long is supposed to have maintained a tavern at his house, which could well be Room No. 1, and to have run a whiskey still, the remains of which have not been located...
