Summary
Significance: This is an exceptional example of the Queen Anne style, reported to be the first true Queen Anne structure in the United States. It is part of the Hunnewell Estates Hist. Dist., a well preserved group of 18th & 19th century residences assembled by the Welles & Hunnewells. The property was built by Horatio Hollis Hunnewell as one of a number of residences added to his land holdings, during the time when this area was a popular location of the summer homes of the wealthy.
