Summary
Significance: Included in the construction of the International Smelting and Refining Company's Tooele Smelter was its own powerhouse. Except for minor modifications, the power plant remained the same up until the day of the smelter shut down in January of 1972. Nearly all other of the major equipment was in operable condition at this time and only three of the major original engines were gone. The two marine engines (E-3 & E-4) in the center of the building were removed in 1927 when more compressed air was needed...
