Significance: In 1897, the Montegut Plantation, formerly known as Louque Plantation, was divided between two of the five sons of owner Lucien Montegut. Charles Montegut purchased his brother's half of the plantation at which time he renamed it Elvina Plantation. It has been known as Montegut Plantation since. The house originally contained a separate building that housed the kitchen. It was later connected to the main house. Later, a bathroom bay was added to the main house. The roof was replaced after a fire, and the original dormer windows were not included. This typical raised plantation home is currently owned by John Montegut and is of bousillage construction, circa 1810.
