Summary
Significance: This Montgomery House is an elegant townhouse designed by Stephen Hills, a master carpenter from England who later became the architect for the Pennsylvania and Missouri capitol buildings. William Montgomery was a prosperous attorney who had moved to Lancaster from Newark, Delaware. Montgomery also owned General Edward Hand's estate, Rock Ford (HABS No. PA-368).
