Summary
Significance: The Obed Macy House is an example of a late-eighteenth century mansion house. The shell was constructed c. 1801 for Obed Macy, local merchant and author of The History of Nantucket. The house is of two and one-half stories with a two story west wing, a one story extension; shingle exterior; gable roof; two interior chimneys on the major structure and one end chimney on the two story west wing.
