Summary

summary: Photographer's annotation: "On the same claim where the oldest house in Buffalo County stands. This picture shows Mrs. Nutter, her children and grand children, Will Nutter Jr., wife and children at the right in the picture. Mr. Nutter is the man who was swindled by a Lincoln land co. out of 1300 acres of fine land in the Platte Valley in 1921 in trade for Texas land. The sum he estimates he lost is over $70,000. They have 12 children, and Mrs. Nutter, a small woman weighing about 120lbs. has to keep support of the family by taking in washing or working by the month in a Kearney hospital. Her children ranged in age from 2 yrs. to 22."
