Summary

Significance: Noteworthy building erected on the periphery of Portland's business district during a period of intense development between 1900-1930. This building represents a historical link with a fraternal order which had gradually ceased activity because of changing social patterns. / Gothic Revival details. Concrete foundation, yellow brick facing. 6 stories. Terra cotta cornice, terra cotta decorative ornamentation, brick pilasters define each exterior bay, triangular arch heads define third story windows. Ceremonial hall (65' x 70') paneled in mahogany contains carved insignia and symbols peculiar to the order on balconies; secret vault on east side of hall contains significant documents relevant to organization history.
