Summary

Significance: The Cheat District Ranger office was built in 1938. According to John King, members of the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp Parsons very likely built it. This was the first District Ranger office built for the Monongahela National Forest. It was the administrative headquarters for the Cheat District until 1966. Then it became the headquarters for the Parsons Nursery of the Department of Natural Resources, State of West Virginia, until 1985.
