Summary

Photograph shows Margaret Jones Burleigh (1817-1891), abolitionist and teacher from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She taught Emily Howland at Mary Grew's School for Young Women in Philadelphia and was a friend and mentor to Howland. She was married to abolitionist Cyrus Burleigh (1820-1855) and both served on the executive committee of the Pennsylvania Anti-Slavery Society.

Date based on years Henry C. Phillips (1843-1911) and Samuel Broadbent (1810-1881) formed a partnership working under the name of Broadbent & Phillips at 1206 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia.
