Route No. 1-Overton-Lake Mead Road, Station Markers, 6 miles south of Overton, Overton, Clark County, NV
Summary
Significance: The Route No. 1 Overton-Lake Mead Road contributed significantly to National Park Service development of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area beginning in 1938. Station Markers were established by the Bureau of Public Roads in 1937 prior to construction of the road as reference points for surveyors laying out the route, and permanent monuments were installed at these locations in 1938. Additional Station Markers were installed by the Federal Highway Administration along the route at an unknown date in preparation for reconstruction of Route No. 1.
