Shaker Centre Family Dwelling House (Third), North side of Village Road, North of Route 68 & State Route 33, Shakertown, Mercer County, KY
Summary
Significance: The Third Shaker Centre Family House is preserved as part of the Pleasant Hill Shaker Community. This was the third largest Shaker community within the United States, active between 1805 and 1910. The Shakers (the United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing) were known for their plain-style architecture as well as their progressive agricultural practices, communal living, and craft industries. The site is open for public tours.
