The third annual report of the American Society for Colonizing the Free People of Colour of the United States : with an appendix
Summary
This third report of the Society is concerned with securing Congressional backing for establishment of an actual settlement in West Africa for freed U.S. slaves. It also details measures to suppress the international slave trade and gives arguments for and against settlement in West Africa. The appendix contains reports from U.S. agents charged with suppressing the slave trade, acts of Congress abolishing the trade, and reports about the climate, soils, etc., of West Africa designed to demonstrate the suitability of the region for settlement.
